Low Level Laser Therapy is a colloquial term for photobiomodulation or Cold Laser Therapy (LLLT).

It is a light therapy using a laser or LEDs to improve tissue repair (skin wounds, muscle, tendon, bone, nerves), reduces inflammation and reduces pain wherever the beam is applied. Treatment is applied by a trained nurse, therapist or technician, treatment takes between 15-20 minutes and should be applied two or more times a week.

Low Level Laser Therapy works predominantly on the protein in the mitochondria (cytochrome-c oxidase) to increase ATP and reduce oxidative stress. A cascade of mitochondrial and intercellular downstream effects lead to improved tissue repair and reduced inflammation.

Low Level Laser Therapy has been used for many years on sports injuries, arthritic joints, neuropathic pain syndromes, back and neck pain. Over 400 randomised clinical trials have been published on Cold Laser, half of which are on pain.

"At two and a half months post op, my surgical incisions remained open, bleeding and painful.  The surgeon’s response was “this can happen”.  Using the Thor Low Level Laser with the skill of an experienced therapist, the incisions were healed in two weeks.  I highly recommend this treatment, provided by the team at The Fix, to accelerate wound healing."

"I have been doing daily laser sessions for pain and discomfort due to a herniated disc in my lower back. It has helped tremendously to decrease the pain and inflammation to the point where I am now able to resume my normal workouts and daily activity with minimal to no pain at all."

   -Lawrence R

" The laser made my elbow that I broke when I fell off the monkey bars feel much better. I was able to bend my arm further and my physical therapist told me that it was moving more than last time."

   -Eliana A (age 10)

"I injured my neck and upper back in an auto accident and had several laser treatments to help with the muscle spasm and soreness. On my next visit to my chiropractor, she asked me what I had done as upon examination she found that my muscles were looser than they had been for the past 6 months....I had not mentioned to her that I had the laser treatments prior to her examining me."

   -Janice J

"I had one laser session on my calf due to a slight strain after doing a long run...the next day it felt perfect and I was able to run with no pain or discomfort."

   -Chelsea S

"I was diagnosed with a small tear in my medial meniscus and went for 2 weeks of laser therapy to help with the soreness and discomfort I was experiencing. Needless to say, so far I have avoided surgery and the soreness in my knee is virtually gone."

   -Dr. Eric S

" I have had surgery on my knee that left me with a fair amount of scar tissue and a Baker's Cyst. The laser therapy has helped so much with the swelling and pain I experience daily. I am able to walk and workout with minimal discomfort."
